Inaugural Indiana Doula Conference
As Conference Director for the very first Indiana Doula Conference, I had the incredible opportunity to lead a landmark event alongside Erin Brier, executive director of the Indiana Association of Professional Doulas. Amid a critical maternal health crisis in Indiana the conference was designed to elevate doula care and build a stronger community of birth professionals committed to improving birth outcomes across the state.
Over a 9-month planning cycle, I helped transform a bold vision into reality, culminating on April 25, 2025, when nearly 200 attendees from across Indiana and neighboring states gathered for education, support and advocacy of the essential work doulas do. The event attracted over 100 ticket holders, with nearly 30 doula-focused businesses partnering as sponsors and vendors, almost 30 speakers for breakout sessions, mindfulness sessions, and birth expert panel, a 10-person volunteer team, and over $20,000 in sponsorship gifts.
It was a uniquely personal experience, especially as I shared the journey of pregnancy alongside the Conference founder with our due dates just one week apart.
CONFERENCE DIRECTOR
EVENT PLANNING & PRODUCTION
My role encompassed leading day-of coordination, managing logistics and materials such as timelines, run of show, volunteer orientation, and registration processes, and overseeing a marketing campaign that emphasized the conference’s theme of celebrating birth diversity. I also handled budget management and supported PR efforts, helping secure multiple local news interviews. Notably, this inaugural event concluded with a surplus profit — a testament to the strong foundation we laid for future conferences aimed at shaping the future of maternal health in Indiana.
